A simple meditation session:
Some people are helped by lighting candles and listening to soft music. I prefer running water, but the choice is yours.
In my opinion mediatation is a spiritual exercise rather than a physical one.
1. Find a quiet place away from all noise and telephones (that means your family too).
2. Sit down or lie down in a comfortable place. Wearing loose unrestricting clothes.
3. Make sure to straighten your spine, lenghten your neck and lower your chin a bit towards your chest.
4. Spend the first few minutes trying to relax every muscle in the body from your head to your toes (you might need to
tighten them first). Focus on smooth, easy breathing through your nose.
5. As you breathe, concentrate on each inhalation, exhalation and the natural pauses that occur in between.
6. Start thinking about the issues in your life, visualise your thoughts as clouds that come into your mind then gently
push them into the sky.
7. At the end of your session, be sure to move slowly for the next couple of minutes, especially if you've been lying
down.
Try to meditate for at least ten minutes everyday or longer if possible, and you will feel less stressed and more able
to cope with your day, whatever that may bring.
